Livingston Taylor's "Bicycle"

Well, I learn something new every day.
Granny probably knew all about this, but Livingston Taylor has a 1996 album titled "Bicycle."

I saw this lyric in my latest "Bike Bits" newsletter from Adventure Cycling:

"Maybe I'm crazy, don't ask my wife
I've been in love with these spinning wheels
Since I was maybe three
My bicycle and me . . ."
-- Livingston Taylor, "Bicycle"

I listened to a clip of the album, but couldn't really get a feel for the song or lyrics.

Here's a brief review:

Chesky Records is proud to present Livingston Taylor's Bicycle. Perfectly suited for the adult contemporary format, Livingston Taylor's songs sing of life's simple pleasures and occasional pains. His voice is crisp and clear and as welcome and familiar as running into an old friend. Witty, winsome and wise, Bicycle features Livingston in eleven original compositions and backed by an ensemble that features his brother James Taylor on the song Boatman. Livingston's new recording is full of surprises; from the jazz swing of Bicycle, to the bluesy instrumental Olympic Guitar and skipping on to Country swing in Dixie Chicken this record is destined to be a quiet surprise hit. (Coconut Bay)

Let us know if you know of other cycling songs or albums.

And yes, we know Queen's 1978 classic "Bicycle Race"!

Too funny that you mention him as I saw JT's former wife and mother of his kids, Carly Simon in concert recently. Livingston came on the stage to sing a couple of songs and even a duet with Carly. He's certainly got a quirky nature about him.

I like JT.
I especially like CS.
I've never been too crazy about LT.
Did I ever tell you that I wrote a folk music column for 15 years while I was a sports editor and writer? Used to drive the Michigan State football coach crazy!
