Grab Bag Thursday

The Unofficial Jersey (and t-shirt) of the TripleCrankset
If you're tired of the generic styled mono colored cycling jersey or the multi-colored sponsor filled one as well then the boys over at Twin Six just might have something for you. Twin Six, was started by two designers who also just happened to love riding their bikes. From their Wear-To-Go Manifesto, they believe "that the time is overdue for better cycling jersey graphics" with a "goal to be the alternative to everything else."

And wouldn't you know, one of their designs captures the true nature of the Crankset. So we've adopted this jersey as the unofficial jersey of the Triple Crankset. If your local Twin Six dealer doesn't have it, you can find it at REI or Arcvelo.com. The jersey retails for $70.00.

Bonkers Rejoice
In the past, Granny bonked so much that I could've earned the nickname, Bonkers. But the people at Gel-Bot have come up with something to help prevent that from happening. Is it a new energy drink... a new gel? No, but a delivery system to get you either one or both at the same time. The Gel-Bot is the first water bottle with an integrated gel cannister/flask. Depending upon how far the spout is engaged, then you can enjoy just gel (in the closed position), gel and water (or whatever drink you fill it with, spout pulled open halfway), or just your drink (spout fully open). The 24oz. bottle with gel flask (claims to hold up to three gels) retails for $15.95 and can be found at their online store or at Eastern Mountain Sports.

Here's a crazy concept. How bout eating?

Try complex carbs 24-48 hours before an event and simple carbs 2 hours before. Eat one power bar and gel every 90 minutes on the bike. Drink one power drink every 60-90 minutes.

On average, a slow twitch athelete can only store a maxium of 90 minutes of energy (glucose) at any given time. At that point, say alo to my lit tal friend.....lactosis.
