Hoch soll Arndt leben! - 20th Giro Donne Stage 6

Team Columbia - HTC's Judith Arndt wins the sixth stage as Cervelo passes around the maglia rosa

With only three stages left until the completion of the 2009 Giro Donne, Stage 6 from Cerro al Volturno to Sannita Sant'Elena would prove to be decisive.

The 119 km route, marked by a series of long climbs in the province of Isernia, brought the class of the field to the forefront. A pair of Team Columbia - HTC teammates, German Judith Arndt and American Mara Abbott would duel with Claudia Häusler (Cervelo Test Team) in the finale.

Ultimately, Arndt would take the stage just ahead of her German compatriot, Häusler, but the 2009 Tour de l'Aude champion would garner the greatest spoils as she claimed the maglia rosa off the shoulder of her teammate, Emma Pooley (Cervelo Test Team), who defended the leader's jersey for the past three days.
