Mara Abbott (Team Columbia – HTC Women) won today's 106.4km Stage 3 of the 20th Giro Donne by outlasting Cervelo Test Team teammates Emma Pooley and Clauda Hausler to the top of the Category 2 climb of Monte Serra. By taking today's stage, the 23-year old Abbott would move up to second in the General Classification and into a position to claim her first major international win.
Emma Pooley's second place finish would make her the fourth different rider, in successive days, to wear the maglia rosa.
