So, what's Our Boy Lance been up to these days?
Well, if you read the authoratative ContactMusic.com (doesn't everybody?), OBL has been reconsidering (something he tends to do) is commitment to run in the New York Marathon in November.
"It's painful. Running is totally different from cycling - the impact on the body,' says OBL. "Those guys (marathon runners) train hard, watch what they eat and go to bed early - things I don't want to do anymore. I'm over that. I like to have a bit of fun."
Fun, eh? Well, OBL has been training, all right, but in Los Angeles with movie stars Matthew McConaughey and Jake Gyllenhaal. Now that will get you in shape.
And, perhaps you've been hearing about Sheryl Crow's comments in the August issue of Vanity Fair (WHAT?! You don't read Vanity Fair?!). Crow says it was difficult to be apart from ex-fiance after she was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.
"It was difficult, you know," Crow says. "I know he wanted to be there. I do think about Lance every day. And I think about his kids every day."
When Crow learned she had cancer, she contacted OBL. "When I got that news, I can't even describe it," says OBL. "It was the cruelest twist. We talked and she said, `You know, I just don't think that's a great idea.'"
According to Armstrong, Crow told him she felt "it would be hard on her in trying to manage the breakup and the diagnosis. And I totally understood."
So, what was the breakup all about?
Crow, who underwent surgery in late February, denies that Armstrong, who has three children from a previous marriage, didn't want to start another family.
"It would be easy to say this is all about my wanting to get married and have kids but it was never that simple," she says. "It was much deeper than that."
SO WHAT WAS IT?
"We were at different points in our lives."
I guess that's about the best we're going to get -- at least from Vanity Fair.
