On Tap...

Lombardia
One of the true monuments of cycling takes place this weekend, the Giro di Lombardia. First run in 1905, the one-day classic traditionally closes the European road cycling season. The picturesque route that passes through Como and features the famous climb towards the cyclists' sanctuary – the Madonna del Ghisallo (below) favors those who can really get up and down.

A quick review of the rosters reveals that most of cycling's heavyweights have already begun their off-season. Lampre's tandem of Damiano Cunego and Alessandro Ballan are the heavy favorites for victory.
