Recently at the Manchester Velodrome (Track World Cup #4), Hoy was nearly perfect losing only once in the sprints, and totally dominating the Keirin event. For those unfamiliar with the Keirin, its a motorpaced (see photo below) event of 2000m that originated in Japan. The motorbike, or derny, gradually increases its pace from 25km to around 45km, before pulling off in the final lap.
Usually, this event attracts the most gambling and the best riders are often paid handsomely. So how much did Hoy take away from the International Keirin at Manchester? How about 10,000 Euros! Yeah, Baby!
