To Jan Or Not To Jan, That Is The Question

Who is that domestique?

So, what are we to make of Jan Ullrich?
Supposedly plagued by a recurrent knee injury and familiar weight problems this spring, Jan Ullrich seemed surprisingly svelte as the Giro began.
“Who knows?” Ullrich friend and former professional, Marcel Wust, said over the weekend. “Maybe there weren’t any serious knee problems. Ullrich has shown that you don’t necessarily have to ride a lot of races to get in shape. Hard training is sometimes more effective.”
Ullrich beat out Giro GC leader Ivan Basso by 30 seconds in the TT, and while he continues to lag in 40th place, 28:21 behind Basso (so much for those 30 seconds), everyone knows that Jan is pointing to the Tour de France.
Could a race really be shaping up?
