BOOYAKASHA! RE-SPEK!

I was going to leave this one for 53rd Tooth, but I figured there would be plenty of room on this blog for his comments. Anyway, to the heart of the matter...what cycling feat could elicit such a headline? Only Jan Ullrich dusting the competition in the long (50km) and flat ITT of the Giro d'Italia's Stage 11.

Stage 11 Results
1. Jan Ullrich (G), T-Mobile, 58:48
2. Ivan Basso (I), CSC, 59:16
3. Marco Pinotti (I), Saunier Duval, 59:49
4. Serhiy Honchar (Ukr), T-Mobile, 59:57
5. Paolo Savoldelli (I), Discovery Channel, 1:00:07

Overall After Stage 11
1. Ivan Basso (I), CSC, 0:00
2. José E.Gutierrez Cataluna (Sp), Phonak, 2:48
3. Serhiy Honchar (Ukr), T-Mobile, 3:24
4. Paolo Savoldelli (I), Discovery Channel, 3:26
5. Tom Danielson (USA), Discovery Channel, 5:38

*Big loser today, Damiano Cunego who was passed by Basso, losing more than 5 minutes on the stage. A tidbit from Gordan Cameron on Pezcyclingnews.com, "rumour has it that Basso and Simoni are more or less on the same page when it comes to thoughts about Cunego, so that was probably a pretty sweet feeling for the CSC head honcho." Interesting...

**Check out the overall ride by Tommy D. Does Sean Yates send him up the road in the mountains, as Basso will clearly be marking any moves by Salvodelli? Stay Tuned...

  1. TdF looks to be a good one in '06 ... great show of power by Jan!!

Basso in control, but as Bob Roll said - it's diabolical by design next week in the mts!

  2. It's a matter of science folks. A man who can sustain 400+ watts for 45 minutes at a clip will get results every time.
